This is one of my favorite passes, which my students and I use at my Poughkeepsie martial arts school. Here is a sneaky way to get out of your opponent’s half guard. The trick is in the underhook – traditionally the top man always hunts the far side underhook, however in this case we are looking for the close side. This is a pass made famous by George St. Pierre, a John Danaher student, in his fight against Thiago Alves.
